Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adults in ICU and to patients in general inpatient units; manage ventilated patients and assist with airway management.
- Perform therapies including aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques, and humidification as prescribed.
- Monitor and adjust ventilator settings, wean supports, and respond to clinician orders; interpret arterial blood gases as part of patient care.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team during rounds; document assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record (Epic) per department standards.
- Demonstrate patient and family education regarding respiratory therapies, equipment, and safety; adhere to hospital policies and infection control practices.
- Maintain readiness for variable schedules, weekends as needed, and a high level of clinical documentation accuracy.
Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; NBRC verification required; licensure appropriate for practice (RRT) in the United States; CRT will not be accepted.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience; prior travel experience preferred.
- Teaching hospital experience required; Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required.
- Documentation of all specialties worked in prior employment entries; able to work in an inpatient setting with nights/wkends as needed.
