Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Registered Nurse – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii, United States. Start date May 18, 2026 for an estimated 13-week assignment. Weekly pay range $1,859 to $1,987 per week. No guaranteed hours. Rotating shift. Hospital setting.

Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients in the PACU and during Phase I and Phase II recovery following surgery; monitor for stability, manage analgesia, and identify signs of complications.
- Assess incision sites, monitor body temperature and hemodynamic status, and respond to postoperative changes with critical thinking and appropriate interventions.
- Utilize unit equipment and systems (Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, Phillips Monitors) and document findings accurately in the medical record.
- Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure safe recovery and timely transitions from PACU to next level of care; escalate concerns as needed.
- Adapt to varying unit assignments (ASU and PACU) and participate in on-call coverage as assigned (0–3 times per month).
Requirements
- Hawaii licensed RN required by start date; active state license by assignment start is mandatory.
- Basic life support (BLS) and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended and may be required for specific positions; other specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) may be required for certain postings.
- Minimum 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER/ICU) in a hospital setting; PACU experience is preferred but may be substituted with relevant CCU/ICU experience.
- Ability to work in a PACU/ASU environment with the capacity to monitor for postoperative instability and complications.
- Flu vaccination proof or facility-approved medical/religious exception required prior to contract start; flu vaccination may be administered during employee health clearance.
