Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department for newborns through geriatrics
- Perform triage using the ESI framework, establish IV access, initiate drips/infusions, and conduct timely EKGs
- Administer medications per physician orders, monitor patient responses, and manage changes in clinical status
- Apply restraints when indicated, assist with procedural sedation, and coordinate transports by ambulance as needed
- Document care thoroughly in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and communicate with ED team, physicians, and ancillary staff
- Support patient transports to higher levels of care and participate in telemedicine/stroke consultation workflows
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and accurate documentation for all ED procedures
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Vermont
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC required; TNCC (or proof of class with date applied) and NIHSS required prior to start
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical ED experience; at least 2 years in the specialty; prior travel assignment completed (1 travel assignment suffices); EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
- Special qualifications: Charge experience preferred; comfortable with high-acuity patient care across the age spectrum; able to work 12-hour shifts and flexible to include holidays
- Other: Reliable transportation; able to participate in shifts including evenings and nights; strong communication and teamwork skills
