Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting located in Fairfield, Iowa, United States. Start date: 06/08/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment with guaranteed 36 hours per week. Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical patients using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, manage IV therapies, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, case management, respiratory therapy, and other team members to coordinate comprehensive care and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care; reinforce learning with teach-back
- Document all aspects of care accurately in the medical record; uphold safety, infection control, and privacy standards
- Participate in rounds, handoffs, and care conferences to ensure continuity of care and timely escalation when needed
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license
- BCLS and ACLS certifications required
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Experience: Experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work in a medical-surgical/acute care setting and to meet the demands of a 12-hour night shift with rotating weekends/holidays
