Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult Med-Surg and stroke stepdown patients, including assessments, monitoring, medication administration, IV therapies, and basic treatments (e.g., NG/feeding tubes).
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case management, and other team members to implement and adjust care plans; participate in rounds and care transitions.
- Administer medications per policy, monitor for adverse effects, and document findings accurately in EPIC EMR; ensure timely completion of nursing notes and care documentation.
- Monitor neurological status and stroke precautions; respond promptly to changes in patient condition; manage airway, circulation, and respiratory status as needed.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, discharge planning, and post-discharge care; uphold safety, infection control, and isolation protocols.
- Float to related units as required by assignment; maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with unit standards.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license; Nursys verification of all active RN licenses
- Current BLS from American Heart Association; NIHSS certification or ability to obtain prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience with stroke stepdown exposure; travel experience required
- RN degree from an accredited nursing program
- Ability to work in a 64-bed Med-Surg Stroke Stepdown unit; EPIC EMR experience
- Drivers license with address that matches demographics; RTO (time off) must be included at submission
