Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse - Med Surg Stroke Stepdown for adults on a 64-bed MS Stroke Stepdown unit in a hospital setting. Location: Utica, New York. Start date: July 13, 2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,167-$2,291 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. This assignment requires floating to other units as needed. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Local candidates within 75 miles may be considered at local rate per submission requirements. Travel experience and unit-specific credentialing noted in job requirements.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to adult patients on a Med/Surg Stroke Stepdown unit, focusing on stroke recovery, altered mental status, renal, COPD, CHF, pneumonia and related conditions
- Monitor neurological status (NIHSS) and vital signs; observe for acute changes; administer and titrate medications per physician orders
- Manage IV pumps, NG and feeding tubes, and other device-related care; implement care plans and notify physicians of changes
- Document thoroughly in the EPIC EMR; communicate patient status and care plans with the interdisciplinary team; participate in rounds and discharge planning
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and quality-of-care standards; respond promptly to patient/family questions and needs
- Float to adjacent units as required by unit policy; adhere to unit dress code and shift expectations
Requirements
- Active New York RN license with NURSYS verification; all active RN licenses must be verifiable
- 2+ years of Med/Surg Stroke Stepdown nursing experience
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification; NIHSS certification or ability to obtain prior to start (NIHSS is required for this unit)
- Travel nursing experience required; EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Ability to work nights on a 64-bed MS Stroke Stepdown unit with floating to other units as needed
- RTO (time off) must be included at time of submission
