Travel Registered Nurse L&D Job
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D) in San Luis Obispo, California. This travel assignment begins on 08/17/2026 for an 8-week contract, with guaranteed 48 hours per week and a night schedule of 3x12-hour shifts. The position is in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital and focuses on obstetric care within the Labor and Delivery unit.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for obstetric patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, including monitoring maternal and fetal status.
- Assist during labor and delivery and in postpartum care; manage triage, admission processes, and escalation of complications.
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders; support epidural anesthesia administration and maintain sterile technique.
- Assist with cesarean deliveries when indicated; provide immediate newborn care and neonatal resuscitation as needed.
- Document patient assessments, care plans, and progress in the EPIC EMR; coordinate with obstetricians, anesthesia, and neonatal teams.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care, lactation support, and discharge planning.
Requirements
- Active registered nursing license in the state of assignment (California)
- BLS certification
- At least two years of recent experience in Labor and Delivery or obstetric nursing
- Epic EMR experience
- Ability to work night shifts and meet guaranteed hours
