Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside Med/Surg nursing care for adult patients, with emphasis on orthopedic postoperative and trauma care.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, respond to clinical changes, and escalate issues per protocol.
- Administer medications, manage pain control, wound care, drains, and other post-operative interventions in coordination with the surgical team.
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, physical therapy, and ancillary staff to support discharge planning and overall patient recovery.
- Document care in the electronic medical record, maintain accurate charts, and ensure adherence to hospital policies and patient safety standards.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families, provide education on post-operative care, mobility, and activity restrictions.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license with Nursys license verification required (GA licensure preferred for practice in the assignment location).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in orthopedics and/or trauma surgical care in a setting of similar size and acuity.
- Certification Card required; appropriate clinical certifications to support ortho/trauma specialty.
- Must have a complete candidate profile including work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days, Skills Checklist, references.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a hospital Med/Surg setting and to manage care for postoperative orthopedic and trauma patients.
