Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor a sterile surgical field; provide instrumentation and assistance to the surgical team during procedures.
- Ensure aseptic technique, correct packaging and sterility of instruments, and use of sterile indicators and expiration checks.
- Monitor the operating room environment and field integrity; initiate corrective action under supervision to prevent contamination or field compromise.
- Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and initial room preparation; support the perioperative team during Time Out processes, briefings, and debriefings.
- Communicate professionally with the perioperative team; stay current with technologies and procedures; uphold a Just Culture and HIPAA compliance; may provide guidance to junior staff as directed.
- Work toward competency for Tier 1 surgical cases and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Active Colorado Surgical Technologist license required.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Education: Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
- Ability to work in a hospital perioperative environment; strong knowledge of sterile technique and AORN standards.
- Physical ability to perform duties in a surgical setting (standing for extended periods, lifting and moving instruments, and performing required manual tasks).
- English language proficiency and basic computer skills to complete online learning, forms, and policies.
