Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, evidence-based stepdown care to cardiovascular patients, including post-procedural and post-open-heart surgery care, congestive heart failure, and electrophysiology study patients.
- Monitor telemetry and hemodynamics, interpret EKGs, administer prescribed medications, and titrate IV infusions per protocol.
- Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and case management to coordinate care and plan safe discharge for eligible patients (often 18–24 hours post-op).
- Prepare patients for invasive procedures (e.g., PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip) and support peri-procedural care as assigned.
- Document comprehensively in the electronic health record, ensure adherence to unit protocols, and uphold patient safety standards.
- Maintain competency to float to similar cardiovascular units as needed by assignment.

Requirements
- Licensure: Active Michigan RN license; license verification required (LARA and Nursys). If there is a license hit, provide a brief write-up for manager review.
- Experience: 1+ year of stepdown or cardiovascular unit experience.
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required.
- Skills: Proficiency in cardiac care and telemetry; strong EKG interpretation; ability to work in a fast-paced cardiovascular setting.
- Travel: Travel—required.
- Attitude/availability: Willingness to float to similar units as assigned.
- Note on attendance: The unit enforces a strict attendance policy; three occurrences of a scheduled absence or lateness (over 20 minutes) may lead to termination, with exceptions for documented contagious disease or hospitalization.
