Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities through observation and standardized assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve functional skills, focusing on ADLs and mobility.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train patients in its safe and effective use.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies for daily living and home care planning.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and progress reports in the EMR; coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and other therapists.
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies, participate in professional development activities, and support quality assurance efforts.

Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
- Certification: BLS/CPR certification.
- Licensure: NM OT license application in progress with the NM Regulation & Licensing Department; active licensure prior to or soon after start date is expected.
- Experience: Completion of supervised fieldwork (Level I & II); 2 years acute care experience preferred for higher-acuity units (ICU, trauma, neuro); experience with ADLs, mobility training, and hospital equipment (lifts, splints, adaptive devices).
- Skills: Strong documentation skills in EMR systems; excellent communication and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team; ability to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
