Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided interventional radiology procedures; maintain a sterile field throughout procedures
- Review patient charts for exam orders, verify reason for exam, assess medications (e.g., anticoagulants) and NPO status; interview patients regarding history and implanted devices
- Explain procedures to patients, provide necessary pre- and post-procedure care, and deliver discharge instructions
- Adjust, maintain, and operate imaging equipment to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images; monitor vital signs when applicable
- Administer contrast under radiologist supervision, monitor for adverse reactions, and apply radiation protection techniques in accordance with ALARA
- Manage supplies and equipment for procedures; document procedures in EMR/PACS and ensure proper image storage and retrieval
Requirements
- Certification: ARRT RT(R) or one of the following advanced credentials: RT(VI), RT(CV), RT(CI), or RCIS
- Experience: 1–2 years of interventional radiology tech experience preferred
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Environment: Ability to work in a hospital/interventional setting and participate in on-call rotation
- Communication: Strong patient interaction skills and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
