Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or group of patients in the ICU according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Monitor patients closely, administer medications, manage IV therapies, and support respiratory and hemodynamic needs.
- Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and other disciplines.
- Use critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent judgment to prioritize and adjust care plans.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record and participate in ongoing care planning and patient safety initiatives.
- Respond effectively to clinical changes and emergencies, ensuring timely escalation and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted RN license in California
- ICU or critical care nursing experience (ICU experience preferred)
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and maintain pace in a high-acuity environment
- Proficiency with electronic health records and medical documentation
- Willingness to participate in a 13-week travel assignment and comply with assignment requirements
