Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate basic care to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
- Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility
- Position, transfer, and ambulate residents using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor residents’ condition, observe for changes, document accurately, and report to supervising nurse
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment; follow infection control and safety protocols
- Observe privacy and dignity, promote resident independence, respond promptly to care needs
- Assist with medication reminders and ensure adherence as directed by licensed staff
- Take and record vitals as directed by the nursing team and document in patient records
- Transport residents to activities and meals using appropriate mobility aids
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Communicate changes in resident status to the care team and participate in care plan updates
Requirements
- Current CNA certification/licensure as required by state regulations
- Completion of a CNA program or equivalent training
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Physical ability to perform caregiving tasks, lift and reposition residents, and stand for extended periods
- Prior experience in a long-term care setting preferred but not required
- Flexibility to work a rotating 12.5-hour shift schedule, including weekends as described
