Registered Nurse – Med Surg Tele | Plattsburgh, NY | Start 10/19/2026 | 16 weeks | $2,489-$2,543 per week | 0.0 guaranteed hours | Shift: 3x12 Nights | Travel - Temporary Assignment
This travel RN role supports medical-surgical telemetry units with ED Hold coverage in a hospital setting. The assignment runs for 16 weeks with the possibility of extension and requires Epic documentation, BLS certification, and NIHSS assessment prior to start.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on Med Surg Tele units, including populations such as oncology, ortho, and urology as assigned.
- Administer prescribed medications and IV therapies, monitor patient status, perform routine assessments (vital signs, neurological checks, glucose monitoring), and execute IV pump management.
- Perform bed-side procedures such as bladder scans, routine blood draws from peripheral lines or central lines as appropriate, and participate in discharge planning and patient education.
- Document accurately in EPIC, communicate with the multidisciplinary team, and respond to changes in patient condition with escalation to the charge nurse or physician as needed.
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards; ensure appropriate fall prevention, isolation precautions when indicated, and adherence to unit protocols.
- May float to other telemetry units or ED Hold coverage as needed; coordination with ED Hold resources and unit staff to support patient flow.
Requirements
- Licensure: Current New York RN license or proof of application with applied date (packet submission required)
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; 1 year in the Med Surg Tele specialty
- Certifications: BLS required; NIHSS will be required prior to starting; CMSRN preferred
- Documentation: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
- Education: Nursing degree (RN) required
- Additional: Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg Tele setting and to float to other tele units when needed; strong communication and teamwork skills

- Travel compensation: Tiered pay based on mileage (distance-based pay rates; direct-mileage measurement; Travel 101 miles+, Radius 51-100 miles, Local 50 miles or less)
- Credentialing and onboarding: Process aligned with travel assignment requirements; NY licensure timing considered in start planning
- Additional: EPIC documentation and unit-specific procedures are in use; ED Hold coverage may be required
