Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive ED nursing care for adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients; perform triage, initial assessment, and ongoing re-evaluation; implement treatment plans.
- Administer medications and therapies (including vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics) and monitor patient responses; manage IV access and line care; interpret orders within scope.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team; document care in EPIC EMR; support patient throughput and flow.
- Monitor for rapid changes in patient condition; recognize and respond to emergencies; participate in resuscitation efforts as needed.
- Discharge planning and patient/family education; coordinate transitions of care and referrals when appropriate.
- Float to other ED areas as assigned; participate in unit patient care initiatives; handle common ED cases such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
Requirements
- Active NY Registered Nurse license (Nursys verification required)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC (current/currently active)
- Experience: 2+ years ED experience; travel nursing experience strongly preferred; pediatric exposure beneficial
- Education: Associate degree in Nursing or higher; graduation from an approved nursing program
- EMR: EPIC EMR experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment; floating to other ED areas as needed
- RTO must be included at time of submission
- Must live at least 75 miles away from the facility for travel status; locals welcome at local rate if within 75 miles
- Driver’s license with address matching demographics
