Travel Psychiatric Technician Job
SMH Psych Tech - CPEP in Rochester, New York. Start date: 04/27/2026. This 13-week travel temporary assignment offers a 12-hour shift schedule on a rotating D/E/N pattern, with holidays, weekends, on-call and on-call back as needed. Weekly pay ranges from $841 to $860, with no guaranteed minimum hours. The role supports direct care and clinical services in an inpatient psychiatric care setting, under RN supervision.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and clinical services to inpatient psychiatric patients on an individual basis, including activities of daily living, social and psychiatric rehabilitation as directed by the RN
- Communicate with patients effectively and ensure access to required services; inform the RN of any patient changes
- Participate in rounds and group therapy as needed
- Support safety and de-escalation efforts and assist with crisis intervention per unit protocols
- Assist with documentation and reporting of patient status, contributing to coordinated care with the interdisciplinary team
Requirements
- 2 years of recent experience as a psychiatric technician (psych tech)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Associate of Applied Science degree in psychology or sociology (required)
- Ability to work in an inpatient psychiatric care setting with rotating 12-hour shifts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to observe and report changes promptly
