Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed respiratory therapies to residents per physician orders, including inhaled medications, oxygen, airway clearance techniques, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Assess and monitor patient status (oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, work of breathing) and document findings and responses to therapy.
- Calibrate, titrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment as directed, ensuring device safety and infection control practices.
- Collaborate with the interprofessional team to modify treatment plans based on patient progress and changing needs.
- Provide patient and family education on respiratory therapies, device use, and safety precautions.
- Maintain accurate records, participate in rounding or team huddles, and ensure timely communication of changes in patient condition.
Requirements
- Active respiratory therapy license to practice in Virginia or eligibility to obtain/transfer licensure as applicable
- Current BLS (CPR) certification
- Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program
- Ability to work 3x12 night shifts and meet guaranteed hours
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar long-term care setting is preferred
- Effective communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
