Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients, including assessments, care planning, and implementation of interventions for conditions such as CHF, COPD, syncope, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, DKA, wound issues, and postoperative patients (e.g., THR, TKR, lumbar or general surgery) as well as COVID-19 cases.
- Administer prescribed medications and IV therapies, monitor for adverse effects, manage pain, and perform standard wound and wound-care procedures.
- Monitor patient status through ongoing assessment of vitals, labs, and imaging; interpret findings and escalate changes per protocol; coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to adjust care plans.
- Document care accurately in the EMR system (Sorian) and ensure timely communication with physicians, case managers, and families.
- Maintain a safe care environment by adhering to infection control practices, fall precautions, and other patient safety protocols; support transition of care planning and discharge readiness.
- Adhere to the unit’s RN-to-patient workload expectations (RN ratio around 7:1, may occasionally be 8:1) and participate in routine rounds and handoffs.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York
- 2+ years of med-surg nursing experience
- Travel experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Ability to work the night shift in a hospital-med-surg setting
- Proficiency with the Sorian EMR system or willingness to learn
