Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated shift.
- Prescribe nursing care based on the nursing process, aligned with the medical plan of care and input from the patient and significant others.
- Collaborate with physicians and other members of the health care team; coordinate delivery of patient care to patients of any age (as assigned unit) including neonatal through geriatric when applicable.
- Incorporate teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care.
- Delegate certain aspects of patient care to other nursing staff according to current clinical competence and legal scope of practice.
- This position is represented by CNA.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage patient care for a group of patients within a designated shift
- Strong nursing process application for planning and delivering care
- Effective collaboration with physicians and the care team; ability to coordinate care across ages as required by the unit
- Competence in patient and family teaching and discharge planning
- Ability to delegate tasks to other nursing staff within scope and competence
- Comfortable working in a 12-hour day shift schedule and meeting 36 hours per week
