Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving hemodialysis, monitoring treatment parameters and adjusting care per protocol.
- Assess patient status before, during, and after dialysis sessions; monitor vital signs and respond to machine alarms promptly.
- Manage vascular access care (fistula/graft) and collaborate with nephrology and dialysis teams to optimize treatment.
- Document care in the electronic medical record (EPIC), including assessments, treatments, and patient education.
- Educate patients and families about dialysis procedures, potential side effects, and infection prevention strategies.
- Maintain safety, infection control standards, and equipment readiness; float to additional local sites as needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license on file at submission
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; minimum 1 year of outpatient dialysis experience
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years
- Ability to work 8- to 12-hour shifts as needed; Saturday requirements; no on-call
- Reliable transportation is required; public transportation is not accessible; local driving within the area; snow tires recommended in winter months
