Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for behavioral health patients on a 12-bed unit within a hospital environment, following unit policies and care plans as part of a team-based model.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments; monitor patient responses and document findings.
- Use the Meditech EMR to record assessments, interventions, progress, and patient/family education; ensure accurate and timely documentation.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, teach patients and families, and support discharge planning.
- Maintain patient safety using crisis prevention techniques and de-escalation strategies; no floating to other departments is required.
- Take on charge nurse responsibilities during 8-hour rotating shifts when assigned; be available to work weekends and holidays. Orientation includes pairing with a mentor and completing onboarding requirements, with arrival the Thursday prior to start for employee health processing.

Requirements
- Current Hawaii RN license; active by the start date of the assignment.
- Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience.
- BLS certification and crisis-prevention training (NCI or equivalent) required.
- Experience with electronic medical records; Meditech experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a hospital-based behavioral health setting; availability for weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to arrive Thursday before the start date to complete onboarding and employee health requirements.
