Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for adult Med Surg stroke stepdown patients, following RN scope of practice.
- Perform regular neuro assessments, monitor for changes, and document using established protocols (NIHSS as applicable).
- Administer medications, manage IV infusions with accurate dosing, and support airway, breathing, and circulation as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team, update care plans, and document in EPIC EMR with timely charting.
- Monitor for complications common to stroke and medical patients; implement isolation precautions and patient safety measures; assist with transfers and discharges as appropriate.
- Float to related Med Surg units as needed to meet patient care demands and unit coverage.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license; Nursys license verification required
- Certifications: current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS; NIH certification required for this unit (may be obtained prior to start)
- Experience: 2+ years of Med Surg with stroke stepdown experience; travel experience required
- Education: nursing degree (RN); documented education on Med Surg and stroke care
- EMR: EPIC experience or strong EPIC familiarity
- Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg setting with floating to related units as needed
- License and address: driver’s license with address that matches demographics; RTO must be included at time of submission
- Submissions: up-to-date resume including 2+ years MS/stroke stepdown experience and travel experience
- Local rate note: WILL TAKES LOCALS - Local rate (less than 75 miles)
