Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including assessment, monitoring, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and patient safety interventions.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans; monitor changes in patient conditions and respond promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record; communicate changes to families and staff; provide patient and family teaching.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; monitor for adverse reactions and ensure proper conflicts of care are addressed.
- Support unit operations as assigned, including occasional charge nurse duties to help with patient flow and staffing coordination.
- Utilize available tele-intensivist support to inform clinical decisions and coordinate complex care needs; pediatric admissions may occur as part of the med-surg caseload.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (location not specified).
- BLS and PALS certifications required.
- Ability to work nights in a fast-paced medical-surgical setting; comfortable with typical patient ratios and tele-support integration.
- Willingness to perform occasional charge nurse duties as part of the assignment.
- Experience in medical-surgical or acute care nursing is typical for this role; competencies in caring for a broad age range may be needed.
