Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate nursing care for behavioral health clients 18 years and older during hospitalization, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Administer prescribed medications and document administration accurately, monitoring for adverse effects and interactions.
- Direct and supervise other care staff; assign tasks based on skill level and patient needs; ensure patient safety.
- Monitor patient status, respond to crises, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to adjust plans of care as needed.
- Participate in group therapies, in-service trainings, and unit-based quality improvement efforts; contribute to care planning and goal attainment.
- Maintain patient rights, confidentiality, and safety; uphold infection control and safety policies; support a safe and therapeutic environment.
Requirements
- Illinois Registered Nurse license; Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred or equivalent years of experience.
- BLS certification required.
- CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) required.
- Ability to work with adults 18+ in a behavioral health setting; willingness to work night shifts (3x12 schedule) and weekend/holiday coverage as assigned.
- Behavioral health nursing experience is preferred; familiarity with electronic medical records and department policies is desirable.
