Responsibilities
- Perform clinical assessments and determine patient needs and appropriateness for therapy; develop, implement, and revise a Plan of Care (POC) and related progress notes.
- Document procedures, progress notes, plan of care updates, phone orders, and other clinical records; ensure timely and accurate communication to physicians and caregivers while protecting patient confidentiality.
- Assess and intervene to improve range of motion, strength, coordination, and functional mobility; evaluate need for and use of adaptive equipment; modify environments to support safety and ADL performance; fabricate and maintain adaptive equipment and splints as needed.
- Evaluate patient occupational performance across self-care, work, leisure, and rest; assess sensory-motor, psycho-social, and cognitive-perceptual components of occupational behavior; consider physical, social, and cultural factors of the patient’s environment.
- Apply infection control practices and universal precautions in all patient care activities.
- Accept clinical assignments within education and competency; collaborate with physicians and other health professionals regarding patient status; contribute to a coordinated care plan.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, organize data, and communicate relevant information to the care team.
- Support compliance with third-party payers through patient education and coaching as necessary.
- Troubleshoot basic maintenance of occupational therapy equipment and adapt equipment as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current state license as an Occupational Therapist (Washington) – Required
- Proof of current CPR certification – Required
- Current driver’s license – Required
- Reliable transportation and proof of insurance – Required
- Minimum of two years’ occupational therapy experience in an acute care or rehabilitation setting – Required
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Ability to work in a travel-oriented, home care environment; flexible schedule and local travel as needed
