Travel Registered Nurse PCU Job
Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit) needed for a travel assignment in Olathe, Kansas. Start date: 05/10/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Shift: 3x12-hour nights. Weekly pay: $1,987–$2,153. No guaranteed hours. Hospital-type setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital. Employment type: Travel – Temporary Assignment. Active KS RN or Compact license with BLS, ACLS, and NIHF required. 2 years of recent Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit experience preferred, with ability to float to ICU and all inpatient units as needed.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to adult patients in a PCU/step-down environment, including monitoring assessments, medication administration, and therapeutic interventions.
- Manage complex conditions requiring CRRT, BiPAP, chest tubes, and PICC lines; draw own labs and respond to critical changes.
- Monitor patient status, interpret labs, implement care plans, and adjust treatments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in code response and be comfortable conducting own codes; initiate early escalation as needed.
- Document care in the electronic medical record and ensure accurate, timely charting; coordinate with units during patient transfers and discharges.
- Float to ICU and other inpatient units as needed, maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality of care.
Requirements
- Active Kansas RN license or Compact RN license; BLS, ACLS, and NIHF certifications required.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit experience; must have experience with CRRT, BiPAP, drawing labs, chest tubes, and PICC lines.
- Ability to float to ICU and all inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, ED) with prior experience.
- Comfortable participating in codes and managing emergencies; ability to work 12-hour night shifts.
- Weekend requirements: Every other weekend; On-call: None; Holidays: Unit needs may require coverage (e.g., July 4th).
- No new graduates; strong preference for experienced ICU-trained RNs.
