Responsibilities
- Provide full scope of cardiopulmonary services to patients of all ages per physician orders and departmental policies.
- Operate and manage adult, pediatric, and infant ventilators; assist with airway management, suctioning, CPR, and ventilator weaning as appropriate; procure and analyze ABGs; perform chest physiotherapy and PFT testing.
- Administer respiratory therapy medications and delivery methods, documenting therapies accurately and timely.
- Interpret orders, communicate clearly with physicians, managers, clients, and the patient, and utilize interpreters when needed; assist in problem solving across patient care.
- Ensure patient rights and dignity are respected; maintain safety, infection control, and quality documentation; contribute to ongoing improvement of procedures and manuals as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program with AS degree, or equivalent approved by the NBRC.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical respiratory care experience in hospital patients.
- Licensure/Certification: NBRC credentials (CRTT, CRT, RT, or RRT) and processes to verify credentials; BLS required; ACLS and PALS encouraged.
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret physician orders, understand technical manuals, document therapies, and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders; ability to use interpreters when necessary; strong mathematical, clinical, and documentation skills.
- Vaccination and compliance: Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination required for travel assignments.
- General: Eligible to work in the United States; ability to work in a busy hospital setting and adapt to a travel assignment environment.
