Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients from birth through elderly.
- Direct and coordinate nursing care according to professional standards; collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to provide high-quality, cost-effective care.
- Serve as a resource person; educate patients, families, and significant others about treatment plans and care needs.
- Administer medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and contribute to care plans across the continuum of care; apply basic EKG skills as needed.
- Maintain age-specific considerations and cultural sensitivity in all patient interactions.
- Supervise unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse; participate in shift handoffs and care coordination.
Requirements
- Alaska licensure: Registered Professional Nurse in good standing.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Education: Graduation from a NLN-approved nursing program.
- Experience: Preferred one year of health care experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Additional: Must be able to practice nursing per Alaska RN standards; able to work in a hospital setting; ability to use the nursing process and document actions clearly.
- Vaccination: Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination as required for travel assignments.
