Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nutritional assessments for medical inpatients, including diet history, intake, and nutrition-related labs when available, to inform nutrition care plans.
- Develop, implement, and adjust medical nutrition therapy (MNT) plans tailored to diagnosis, comorbidities, and hospital protocols; monitor progress and provide timely re-assessment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and food service to ensure accurate diet orders, appropriate texture modification, and adherence to safety and allergy guidelines.
- Document assessments, plans, progress notes, and discharge planning accurately in the electronic health record (Cerner and CBORD) and coordinate with care teams for continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families on nutrition recommendations, discharge planning, and follow-up resources; provide concise counseling that aligns with cultural and literacy considerations.
- Participate in care planning rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to department workflow optimization and patient safety efforts.

Requirements
- Ability to work in a hospital-based clinical setting and support patient care goals.
- Proficiency with Cerner and CBORD documentation systems for accurate charting and care coordination.
- Strong communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration and patient education.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage a caseload, and maintain timely documentation under hospital guidelines.
- Travel assignment readiness for a 16-week clinical rotation and adaptability to a hospital’s policies and procedures.
