This travel assignment supports a community hospital environment with a dedicated Women and Children’s unit that handles Labor and Delivery, Newborn, Postpartum, and LDRP care. The unit encompasses 7 inpatient beds and 3 triage rooms, with roughly 300 deliveries per year. The facility operates with Epic for documentation and Mindray/other standard monitoring tools, and exposures include occasional Maternal/Neonatal overflow.

- Note: LDRP independence is expected; some MS overflow possible
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care across the L&D spectrum, including labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, with independence in LDRP duties
- Monitor fetal status via electronic fetal monitoring, interpret tracings, and respond to changes in fetal well-being
- Administer medications per order (e.g., analgesia, oxytocin), manage epidural catheter care, and facilitate postpartum medications and newborn medications
- Provide neonatal care, including resuscitation as part of delivery, APGAR scoring, and initial newborn assessments and medications
- Initiate IV access, obtain labs, and assist with PACU care post-cesarean delivery; participate in NAS management (Eat Sleep Console) when applicable
- Document care accurately in the Epic system; communicate with the interdisciplinary team and support clinical handoffs
- Collaborate with perinatal team, including anesthesia and respiratory therapy, for patient care and safety
- Maintain patient and family education, promote evidence-based practices, and ensure infection prevention standards
- Flexibility to float to MS overflow or assist other units as needed; adhere to unit policies, schedules, and call requirements
Requirements
- Licensure: Current RN license in good standing (state: Vermont or eligibility to practice in Vermont)
- Certifications: BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required; ACLS and PALS (or PEARS) preferred; STABLE preferred
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience with LDRP independence; prior travel experience is advantageous
- Unit experience: Demonstrated Epic experience within the past 2 years is required
- Skills/competencies: Proficient in IV starts, labs, EFM interpretation, neonatal medications, and postpartum/newborn care; able to perform/assist with IV placements, EFM, and basic neonatal resuscitation
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN); BSN preferred but not required
- Environment: Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including days and nights on a rotating schedule; ability to work every other weekend and participate in call shifts
- Scheduling and logistics: Reliable transportation to a Berlin, VT location; ability to comply with facility math tests and N-95 fit testing as part of credentialing
