Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy care for neonatal through adult patients, including ventilator management (Puritan Bennett 980/840, LTV1200) and supplemental therapies.
- Perform and interpret arterial blood gases; assess patient response to therapy and adjust treatment plans under the direction of the care team.
- Deliver care across assigned units, with the ability to float to nursery and emergency departments as needed.
- Document patient status, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (Epic); manage medications and supply usage via hospital systems (Pyxis as applicable).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to develop and implement care plans; participate in rounds and ensure patient safety and infection control standards.
- Provide neonatal/pediatric exposure and support as needed, ensuring readiness for NRP requirements; participate in ongoing competency activities.
Requirements
- Licensure: New York State license required at time of submittal
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP required; NBRC verification required
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of respiratory therapy experience; neonatal/pediatric exposure with NRP preferred or required
- Documentation: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
- Scope: Ability to work in a hospital setting with float responsibilities to multiple units
