This assignment is in a hospital-based emergency department in the Utica area, staffed to care for a wide range of acute conditions in adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ED patients across adult, pediatric, and geriatric populations, including initial assessment, triage, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation.
- Manage a range of high-acuity presentations (stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure) with appropriate interventions and rapid escalation when needed.
- Administer medications, initiate critical care protocols, and operate ED equipment (including Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun as applicable).
- Document precisely in EPIC EMR, maintain accurate vital signs, diagnoses, treatments, and progress notes; ensure compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with the ED team and ancillary staff; participate in care coordination, patient throughput, and disposition planning; support SANE-related care as required.
- Support charge nurse activities and perform floating duties to meet unit staffing needs.
- Adhere to AHA guidelines and credentialed certifications (see requirements) and contribute to ongoing patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide patient and family education as appropriate and ensure privacy and infection control standards are maintained.

Requirements
- Active New York RN license with Nursys verification; must hold a current NY license.
- 2+ years of Emergency Department experience; pediatrics exposure preferred.
- Travel experience required; documentation of prior travel assignments requested.
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC must be in hand).
- EMR experience with EPIC.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and float to other areas as needed.
- Driver’s license with address matching demographics.
- Local candidates are eligible for local rate (less than 75 miles) per submission guidelines.
