Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust the plan of care within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide explanations and instructions to patients and/or caregivers regarding respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures, and discharge instructions, ensuring understanding.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care; deliver therapy as ordered by the physician, maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.
- Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to meet patient care needs.
- Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for clinical practice.
- Document and coordinate care to ensure continuity and quality of respiratory services.
Requirements
- Active Illinois license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- BLS certification
- NRP-MHC certification
- Associate degree required
