Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical field and equipment, maintaining strict sterile technique throughout procedures
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team, anticipating needs and coordinating with circulating staff
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and suction as directed by the surgeon
- Maintain accurate instrument and sponge counts during cases
- Support the OR team with routine tasks and post-procedure cleanup, ensuring room turnover is efficient
- Document procedures and pertinent information in the electronic medical record (Epic) as appropriate
- Participate in on-call coverage as required (e.g., 5–6 12-hour shifts within a 6-week period)
Requirements
- 2 years of OR/Surgical Technician experience
- Prior travel experience required
- Ortho experience required; heavy total joint and ortho work is common in the role
- CST certification preferred; BLS required
- Proficiency with Epic or similar EMR systems
- Ability to function in a fast-paced OR environment and to participate in on-call shifts as scheduled
- Eligible to work in the United States and able to meet assignment-specific distance and scheduling requirements
