Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within the Med Surg unit
- Assess patient needs, problems, and concerns; conduct ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive domains
- Develop and implement a goal-directed plan of care, updating the plan as patient conditions and outcomes evolve with patient/family involvement
- Document clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record; communicate changes in condition and treatment to the health care team
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers; participate in orientation and training of new staff as needed; collaborate with the health care team to coordinate care planning
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and unit policies; maintain unit competencies and participate in nursing quality and safety initiatives as requested
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Med Surg nursing experience
- Ability to work nights and maintain 3x12-hour shift schedule
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and thorough, legible documentation
- Strong communication, patient advocacy, and collaboration skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a hospital setting and participate in a travel assignment
