Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in preparation for procedures and maintain a sterile field during operations.
- Set up operative instrumentation and sterile field, pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, and assist with medications as needed.
- Perform instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN according to established standards.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, prepare for case turnover, and help with room maintenance and transport of patients as assigned.
- Document case data in the designated systems (e.g., EPIC) and support unit clerical duties as needed.

Requirements
- Certifications: Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification required; CPR/BLS certification required.
- Education: High School diploma/GED required; Associate’s/Technical Degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent open-heart experience; proven ability to scrub open-heart cases (solo and with a second scrub) and familiarity with EPIC.
- Specialty requirements: Must be able to scrub cardiovascular cases, including open-heart procedures; day-to-day duties require adherence to sterile technique and readiness for on-call scheduling.
- Licensure/other: Current licensure or credentialing as required for the assignment per state requirements.
