Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adults on a specialized neurological unit, caring for conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and Guillain–Barré syndrome
- Monitor telemetry and perform frequent neurological assessments; utilize NIHSS as available; identify and escalate changes in patient status
- Administer medications and therapies; participate in seizure management using continuous video EEG technology; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to update and execute care plans
- Document nursing assessments and interventions; support admissions, transfers, and discharges; ensure accurate charting and communication within the care team
- Promote patient safety, education, and family engagement; respond to emergencies and coordinate with physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff
Requirements
- Current New York State RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Telemetry experience required
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- NIHSS certification highly preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts; weekend/holiday/on-call availability as required
- Education: RN degree; active NY license
