Responsibilities
- Provide basic and advanced respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients as prescribed, including assessment and documentation.
- Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy, monitor patient response, and adjust therapies per physician orders and policy.
- Manage and care for ventilated patients, including monitoring and chart documentation of parameters and progress.
- Perform arterial blood gases drawing and analysis per policy and physician orders; contribute to respiratory care documentation and billing records.
- Document care in electronic medical records, complete flow sheets, and ensure charges are accurately captured.
- Assist with training and supervision of new staff as delegated; collaborate with nursing and therapy colleagues to optimize patient pulmonary care.
- Perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs) as competency allows, including spirometry, DLCO, plethysmography, MIP/MEP, and methacholine challenge; operate related equipment and software (e.g., Vyntus body box, Sentry Suite).

Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT); CPFT certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved vendor; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS; AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS as required at hire or within 90 days.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field.
- Additional requirements: Current California license to practice respiratory care; competency in pulmonary function testing (PFTs) including spirometry, DLCO, plethysmography, MIPS/MEPS, and methacholine challenge.
- Work authorization and licensure: Must be eligible to work in the United States; no on-call requirement.
