Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside care for adult medical and surgical patients on an admission unit, including monitoring, vital signs, medication administration, and IV therapy.
- Triage and assess patient status; respond to changes in condition; collaborate with the care team to adjust plans of care.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record; ensure timely communication to physicians and case management.
- Support admission and discharge processes; coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to streamline patient flow and minimize delays.
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards; educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and post-discharge needs.
- Manage a high patient turnover with a patient ratio of approximately 5–6:1 for Med/Surg RNs; participate in unit handoffs and rapid turnover activities.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered RN license in Georgia; Nursys license verification.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience.
- Education: Graduation from an approved nursing program (RN).
- Ability to work in a hospital setting on a high-turnover admission unit; strong communication and independent work skills.
- Work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days; include a skills checklist, references, certification card, and Nursys verification; load demographic information into profile (including badge-appropriate photo).
