Travel Registered Nurse Stepdown Job
Registered Nurse – Step-Down Unit (Travel) in Saint Louis, MO. Start date: 05/04/2026. Duration: Weeks. 3×12 Night shifts. Weekly pay: $2,092–$2,159 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week. This is a high-acuity step-down (PCU/IMC level) unit on an acute care hospital floor. EPIC charting used; unit operates with a 1:4 patient-to-nurse ratio and a 29-bed unit with daily census ~25.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive bedside nursing care for adult step-down patients, including monitoring and responding to vital signs, alarms, and clinical changes.
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms, including patients with tracheostomies, and interpret arterial blood gases. Perform chest tube management as needed.
- Titrate vasopressors and continuous IV sedatives; manage insulin drips; monitor and adjust non-invasive support (BiPAP, OptiFlow/HFNC).
- Handle arterial line interpretation and post-procedural care (post-cardiac cath/post-MI), including arrhythmia management and rapid response when needed.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; document accurately in EPIC; participate in interdisciplinary rounds with PT, Respiratory, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, coordinate with unit leadership for operations, and float within scope to lower-acuity floors as appropriate.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri (or eligibility; pending licenses may be accepted per state rules)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with recent bedside practice within the last 6 months; travel experience required; Trauma Level II experience required
- Not a first-time traveler; locaux within 75 miles are not eligible
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Proficiency in EPIC charting; strong clinical skills in high-acuity PCU/step-down care; ability to manage ventilated patients and interpret ABGs; able to work nights and participate in floating within the service line
