Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care in the OR across orthopedic, total joints, fractures, gynecology, robotic, urology, general, ENT, spine, and related specialties.
- Maintain sterile technique, prepare the OR, assist the surgical team, manage instrumentation, counts, and patient positioning.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, collaborate with anesthesia and surgeons, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Administer medications per protocol and document intraoperative activities in the EMR (Epic); participate in accurate handoffs to PACU.
- Support a fast-paced, high-demand OR environment; respond to intraoperative changes and equipment needs; participate in required call shifts (2–3 twelve-hour calls in a six-week period).
- Adhere to assignment rules, including no block scheduling and the 200-mile radius submission policy; ensure all required demographics and documentation are loaded at submission.
Requirements
- OR nursing experience: 2+ years
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred
- EMR: Epic proficient
- Travel experience: prior travel assignment required
- Ability to work across diverse surgical specialties listed in the description
- Active licensure information to be confirmed during screening as part of the standard hiring process
