Registered Nurse – NICU (Travel - Temporary Assignment) in San Luis Obispo, California
Start date: 08/17/2026 • Duration: 8 weeks • Shift: Nights (3x12-hour) • Weekly pay: $2,310–$2,510 • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Setting: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in a high-acuity neonatal care environment. The role includes cross-training and potential float to Pediatric units as needed. Represented by CNA.

Responsibilities
- Provide the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to neonates in the NICU during assigned night shifts.
- Manage care planning, medication administration, monitoring of physiological changes, and psychosocial needs of neonates; support families through education and guidance.
- Educate and train patients’ families on care needs and discharge planning as appropriate.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary personnel within scope of practice; coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence-based care.
- Cross-train and float to Pediatric units as needed to support staffing and patient coverage.
- Document care accurately, adhere to unit protocols, and monitor for changes in patient condition and safety.
Requirements
- Active RN licensure in the state of practice (California) or equivalent multi-state option
- NICU or neonatal care experience is preferred
- Ability to work nights and 12-hour shifts; willingness to float to Pediatric units as needed
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred
