Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for med/surg telemetry patients, including monitoring, assessments, medication administration, wound care, enteral tube care, Foley care/insertions, and simple dressing changes.
- Manage telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKGs, with timely reporting of changes to the care team.
- Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion as part of routine care; administer IV therapies as ordered.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV teams, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response, Pharmacy, Transport, Unit Secretary) to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient status, admissions, transfers, and discharges in EPIC; maintain accurate and current charting.
- Float to other med/surg units as needed based on census and unit needs; adhere to isolation precautions and infection control practices.
Requirements
- Active New York state Licensed Practical Nurse license in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of med/surg telemetry experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and IV insertion
- Telemetry monitoring experience with 12-lead EKG; EPIC charting experience
- Ability to float to med/surg units as needed
