Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, care for, handle, and store instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for surgery; process and distribute sterile goods within the Medical Center.
- Assist Sterile Processing Specialists with team-lead duties, including maintaining competencies and ensuring proper processing workflows.
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, wrap, label, and sterilize instrument trays and packs according to policy; manage inventory and storage of processed items.
- Maintain accurate records for processed items, lot numbers, sterilization cycles, and traceability; report any non-conformances or equipment issues.
- Support adherence to safety, infection control, and quality standards; participate in ongoing training and competency validation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of recent Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) experience
- Active HSPA certification (IAHCSMM) for at least 2 years
- COVID-19 vaccination (declinations not accepted; must be state-recorded)
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification
- Ability to work the listed facility schedule and travel assignment requirements
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Documentation: Resume (explain gaps >30 days), 1 supervisory reference from last 6 months, 1 supervisory reference from last 12 months, skills checklist specific to Sterile Processing Technician/SPT
