Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered nursing care to adult and geriatric med-surg patients on a 48-bed unit.
- Perform assessments, develop and implement care plans, administer medications, initiate IV therapy, manage wounds, and monitor clinical status.
- Utilize Epic for charting and documentation; ensure accurate and timely data entry; respond to changes in patient condition and coordinate with the care team.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Social Services, Rapid Response) to coordinate care and discharge planning.
- Manage common unit diagnoses and conditions (e.g., sepsis, respiratory issues, COPD, AKI/renal concerns, post-operative care, trauma, isolation precautions) while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
- Provide patient and family education; support isolation protocols and anesthesia/operative care transitions as applicable.
Requirements
- Current RN license in hand (state or compact) at time of submittal.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Years of experience: 2 years preferred; travel experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred.
- Proficiency with IV start/maintenance, phlebotomy, wound care, and basic ABG interpretation; telemetry and post-op care experience desirable.
- Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts; willingness to work weekends; ability to float to other units if competencies allow.
- Charting experience with Epic preferred.
