Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity adult/geriatric med-surg/telemetry unit, including patients with sepsis, respiratory failure/COPD, post‑operative status, AKI, trauma, bowel obstruction, and related conditions.
- Monitor patient status, implement airway/respiratory support, administer medications, manage IV lines and blood products, and perform wound and IV care as needed.
- Assist with post‑operative and trauma care, chest tube care, CBI, isolation precautions, and other unit‑specific tasks; interpret ABGs and participate in pain, sedation, and withdrawal management (CIWA) as indicated.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, Respiratory, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Work, Pharmacy, Rapid Response, Transport, Interpretation services) to coordinate patient care.
- Document thoroughly in the Epic electronic chart, ensure accuracy of orders and care plans, and participate in quality and safety initiatives; respond to Rapid Response and Code alerts when activated.
- Float to other units as needed, provided competencies are demonstrated; contribute to a collaborative, patient‑centered care environment.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Idaho or a compact license in hand at submittal
- BLS certification required
- Epic charting experience required
- Minimum 2 years of med-surg/telemetry experience; trauma Level II experience preferred; travel experience required
- Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts; floatation permitted as long as competencies are met
- Onboarding: core items and labs completed within 48 hours of contract signing; onsite orientation ~24 hours
