Respiratory Therapist (Registered Respiratory Therapist) travel opportunity in Saint Helena, California. This eight-week assignment starts on 08/24/2026 with 36 guaranteed hours per week on a 3x12-day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) at a short-term acute care hospital. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapies (nebulized medications, oxygen therapy) and monitor patient response; document care in the EMR.
- Provide respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients, including management of ventilatory support as ordered.
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling per policy and physician orders; interpret results and adjust therapy accordingly.
- Maintain and operate ventilator equipment, monitor alarms, and adjust settings as needed; ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Complete documentation for treatments, including flow sheets and charges; contribute to department records and patient care plans.
- Assist in training and supervising new staff and students as delegated; participate in unit-level training and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Licensure: CA Respiratory Care Practitioner license; NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential required (as applicable in CA).
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS required (AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS); NRP/PALS/PEARS preferred; CPR/BLS as per AH policy; Epic EMR experience required.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Additional: Current Epic experience is mandatory; ability to work in a high-acuity acute-care setting; ability to work 12-hour shifts.
