Responsibilities
- Deliver direct emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients, including triage, assessment, monitoring, and treatment planning.
- Administer medications, initiate and manage IV therapy and drips, and participate in resuscitation as needed.
- Document care in EPIC EMR accurately and promptly; monitor patient status and escalate to providers as appropriate.
- Support airway management and basic respiratory therapies; coordinate with the respiratory team as necessary.
- Manage boarded patients, psychiatric patients, and high-acuity cases while maintaining patient safety and appropriate flow through the ED.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license (or proof of application with applied date); license on file at time of submission; NY licensing may take several weeks.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (TNCC must be active or proof of class prior to start); NIHSS required.
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; minimum 1 year of ER/ED specialty experience.
- Ability to work in a high-volume ED with fluctuating census and nurse-to-patient ratios (1:5 commonly, with higher ratios at times).
- Must be comfortable working in a busy environment with adherence to unit protocols and policies.
