Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and timely escalation of clinical changes.
- Perform vascular access duties as part of the vascular access team: IV placement (PIV), dressing changes, PICC line assessment, and port access/flushes as needed; assist with TPA administration per policy.
- Use Epic for documentation, orders, and chart review; coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
- Manage IV therapies and infusion lines, including ultrasound-guided IV placement and troubleshooting of PIVs, PICCs, and ports; float to places where IV access is needed.
- Deliver patient and family education, maintain safety standards, and adhere to unit rotation policies; time off between rotations is typically 48 hours when possible.
- Respond to clinical changes and assist with stabilizing patients in the med-surg setting as part of a collaborative care approach.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience (Med Surg or vascular access) with large trauma level 1 experience within the last year.
- BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and ACLS certifications required.
- IV ultrasound guidance experience; strong IV skills; AVA certified; PICC skills.
- Epic experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable).
- Ability to place, assess, and troubleshoot IVP/PIVs, PICCs, and ports; assist with dressing changes and blood draws as needed.
- Comfortable with a 12-hour rotating day/night schedule and every-other-weekend commitment; flexible to rotate to nights as needed.
